Monica grew up in Erie, PA among a family of furniture store owners, interior designers and decorators. 

She received her Master's Degree in Art and Architectural History from American University and quickly went to work as an architectural historian for the Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record—a historic preservation division of the National Park Service, where she made a significant contribution to American architectural history.

After staying home with her children for several years, Monica transitioned her love of furniture, architecture, and art into Preferred Staging, LLC. She received her Accredited Staging Professional (ASP) designation in 2007 and her RESA-Pro designation in 2013. Since its inception, Preferred Staging has grown exponentially.

Monica's design skills, creativity, and focus on home staging strategies have earned her the reputation as one of the best professional home stagers in the Washington D.C. area.  Since 2014, Monica has consistently been recognized nationally as a “Top 10 Stager in the United States” for vacant, luxury vacant and occupied stagings by both the Real Estate Staging Association and the International Association of Home Staging Professionals. She has also repeatedly been named as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Persons in the Real Estate Staging Industry.  In 2021, Monica was named the Top Stager in the United States in the Enhanced Occupied category.  She is also a member of the Real Estate Staging Association Greater Capital Area.
